Physiotherapy Treatments & Techniques

Your treatment plan is built specifically for you after a thorough orthopedic assessment. Depending on your condition, one or more of the following may be recommended:

Manual Therapy & Joint Mobilization

Hands-on techniques to restore range of motion, reduce joint stiffness, and improve mobility in the spine and extremities. Particularly effective for neck pain, back pain, and post-injury stiffness.

Therapeutic Exercise & Rehabilitation

Individualized progressive exercise programs targeting strength, flexibility, and motor control. Designed to correct the root cause of your injury and prevent recurrence — not just manage symptoms.

Soft Tissue Therapy

Deep tissue techniques to release muscle tension, reduce scar tissue, and restore normal tissue mobility after injury or overuse. Combined with active rehab for lasting results.

Electrotherapy Modalities (IFC, TENS, Ultrasound)

Interferential current (IFC), transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), and therapeutic ultrasound are used to reduce acute inflammation, manage pain, and accelerate tissue healing.

Post-Surgical Rehabilitation

Structured recovery programs following procedures such as ACL reconstruction, knee or hip replacement, rotator cuff repair, and spinal surgery. Our physiotherapist coordinates care to ensure safe, progressive return to full function.

Return-to-Sport Programming

Sport-specific conditioning and neuromuscular retraining to prepare athletes for safe return to competition. Includes functional testing and load management to reduce re-injury risk.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral for physiotherapy in Ontario?+
No. In Ontario, you can see a registered physiotherapist without a doctor's referral. However, some extended health insurance plans may require one for reimbursement — check your policy before your first visit.
How many sessions will I need?+
It depends on your condition and goals. Acute injuries may resolve in 4–8 sessions, while chronic conditions or post-surgical rehab may require ongoing care. Your physiotherapist will give you a realistic treatment timeline after your initial assessment.
Is physiotherapy covered by OHIP?+
OHIP does not cover private physiotherapy. However, most extended health benefit plans cover registered physiotherapy. Our team can provide receipts for insurance claims.
What should I wear to my appointment?+
Wear comfortable, loose clothing that allows the physiotherapist to access the area being treated. For lower body issues, shorts are ideal; for upper body, a loose t-shirt or tank top.
